Public Transportation

Country buses travel between town and Red Hook every hour, and start at 5.15 in the morning from town and end at 8.00 pm from Red Hook.  The first bus from the Airport to town is at 6 am and the last bus from the airport is at 8:00 pm.

You will most likely be sharing your taxi with others, unless you ask for it to be a private taxi ride. Make sure that you agree on the rate before you get on the taxi if there are any questions.

To get from the airport to Sugar Bay Resort is $15.00 per person, but if you have two or more people then the taxi fee is $11.00 per person. The taxi ride is nice and is almost like a little tour on the island.

If you decide that you want to travel a lot and sightsee while on the island, then renting a car might be best as you can drive wherever you want and at your own pace.  There are several car rental agencies located at the airport to rent from.

Review from August 3, 2013

“We were pleasantly surprised at everything. Our room had an amazing view of St. John. I sat out on our balcony every day and truly enjoyed the spectacular sun over the ocean. We did the all-inclusive and loved it. Snorkeling and kayaking are included and we did that several times. We met some great people and Carolyn at the pool bar was so great! There were certainly no shortage or drinks or food at any time.”

“We had a problem with our safe when we first checked in and the security lady was so sweet! Every day we saw her, she remembered and greeted us! All the staff was great! The food was really good–mostly we ate at the buffet in the main dining room. Everything is super fresh and hot. The pool has a restaurant right next door and we had lunch there everyday. The food was delicious. Even a basic hamburger came out piping hot. My husband and I would recommend this resort for it’s value, activities and the people.”
